| | | Recently BILWINCO delivered a complete, mobile weighing and packaging system for a European producer of ready meals.
Packaging requirements
The ready meal producer’s packaging needs required three different packaging types and therefore also three packaging lines:
• Sterilizable bags. Automatically rotating bagging machine for preformed bags.
• Preformed trays. Automatic traysealer line.
• Glasses. Transported to the filling position by means of a conveyor band.
| | However, the output on each line was not large enough to justify an investment in an automatic weighing and packaging solution on each line.
Mobile solutions – versatile solutions
Consequently the producer decided to invest in a line which preferably could meet the entire weighing requirement. BILWINCO suggested a complete, mobile solution. The advantage of the mobile solution is exactly that it can be moved from line to line meeting all the weighing needs. In this way the ready meal producer could achieve a sufficient payback to make the investment interesting.
The complete, mobile system from BILWINCO consists of the following units:
• 1 mobile conveyor band for product feeding (Z-conveyor)
• 1 multihead weigher mounted on a mobile support frame with lifting and lowering function
• 3 filling tools adapted precisely to each of the three packing machines and packaging types
Cost efficiency
BILWINCOs mobile solution has been in operation since 2005 at the ready meal producer weighing a multitude of products like for instance ravioli, peas, beans, salads – fresh or frozen. Some of them are very difficult products. Due to the fact that it is used on three different packaging lines, it is utilized to its maximum and the producer has achieved a unique cost efficiency in the packaging process. Further advantages are:
- reduced give-away by the unique accuracy of the multihead weigher
