TURKEY'S NO. 1 RATIONALIZES SAUSAGE PRODUCTION
PINAR ET in Turkey is the leading producer of frozen and processed meat products in Turkey. In the autumn of 2006 PINAR ET contacted us via our Turkish agent Doypak Packaging with a request to rationalize a weighing and packaging line for sausages with special focus on hygiene, accuracy and increased capacity.

Automated solution works for PINAR ET
PINAR ET decided to invest in a complete, fully automatic BILWINCO weighing and packaging solution, designed to meet their rationalization needs. All units are mobile and the entire system is designed to stand high pressure hosing and various aggressive detergents.

The entire system was delivered and installed at the beginning of 2007 and consists basically of the following parts:

• Mobile z-conveyor for transportation of products from floor level to the weigher
• BILWINCO multihead weigher placed on a height-adjustable mobile frame
• Filling equipment adjustable to two different thermo-forming tray sizes
• BILWINCO WeightLog software for production control through a remote PC on a real time and batch log basis.


Adjustable from 500 to 2500 g
The system weighs and packs small sausages of 60 mm and long sausages of 145 mm into thermo-formed trays. At changeover from one product and packaging size to another the filling equipment is automatically adjusted to the new size. The system weighs out portions from 500 g to 2500 g with a capacity of up to 60 portions per minute.

Production Manager at PINAR ET Mr. Hakan Ishakoglu explains the advantages of the weighing system:

Improved hygiene
“It’s extremely important for us that our meat products are packed hygienically and not left unpacked in our production area for any length of time. From previous experience we already knew that BILWINCO equipment is designed with a unique hygienic concept and constructed to stand direct high-pressure washing. So today we can wash and clean all system components including the main body of the weigher with high pressure hosing and aggressive detergents”.


From 6 to 10 strokes
“Thanks to the BILWINCO system we have achieved an excellent precision in the weighings. BILWINCO has also helped us in terms of a substantial capacity increase: Before we could make only 6 strokes per minute on our thermo-forming machine. Now with the BILWINCO solution we can make 10”.

One machine flexible uses
“The fact that we can run both small and long sausages on the same line has rationalized our lines completely and made our production much more flexible.”

Mobility for maximum flexibility
“The fact that all units of the system are mobile provides us maximum flexibility and makes it easier for us to continuously fill our production requirements. If we wish, we can simply move the entire system to another thermo-forming machine and continue production there”, concludes Mr. Hakan Ishakoglu.

At a later occasion the production manager at PINAR ET, Mr. Ishakoglu told us about a company football tournament which was to take place at PINAR ET. ”One of the employee teams”, he explained, ”called themselves “BILWINCO’ers”. ”They were so pleased with their BILWINCO equipment that they identified themselves with the BILWINCO name also when playing football”.
