| | The German company OBO Bettermann GmbH is one of Europe's leading producers of fasteners for electric articles. Since 1972, the company has bought several weighing and packing units from BILWINCO.
A couple of years ago, OBO Bettermann experienced a growing demand and therefore had to increase their production and packing capacity. An old weighing and packing line had to be replaced by a high-speed system to reach the necessary capacity. The company turned to BILWINCO with the below-mentioned requirements for a new weighing and packing line:
Requirements Product: Metal and plastic fasteners, max. length 60-70 mm. Weight of product 1-10 g. Portion sizes: 25-2000 g. Packaging: Seven different carton sizes (min. 70 x 50 x 50 mm, max. 120 x 100 x 140 mm). High accuracy for largest possible reduction of give-away. If there is one or two products too many in every carton, the give-away costs during one year will be considerable. The equipment must be fully automatic in order to reduce labour costs.
BILWINCO has complied with these requirements by constructing a weighing and packing line consisting of a combination weigher and a synchronizing conveyor. The combination weigher features a very high capacity which is exploited by means of the double filling station of the synchronizing conveyor. In this way, two cartons are filled at a time.
Technical specifications of the delivered solution/performance Product feed: Automatically by product elevator over a high-placed storage hopper and infeed vibrator to the combination weigher. Weighing/dosing: Combination weigher DW100/14-HW. Filling: A fully automatic synchronizing conveyor feeds empty packaging to double filling station and sees to further transport of filled packaging. Packaging supply: Fully automatic through double carton erector. Closing of cartons: Fully automatic through carton closer. Capacity: At 25 g portions - approx. 50 portions per minute. At 2000 g portions - 20-25 portions per minute. Accuracy: +/- 1 g or +/- 1 piece depending on the product.
